Huntington, NY - Mia Troiano, Team Beast 18U Gold/Mepham High School (North Bellmore, NY) has committed to NCAA Division II Queens College, where she will play for veteran Head Coach, Amy Delmore. The Knights compete in the East Coast Conference.
Director of Softball Operations and 18U Gold Head Coach, Jamie Apicella commented on Troiano’s commitment announcement:
"Mia arrived at Team Beast and initially competed with our Premier squad. After a high level of success on that team Mia was elevated and competed with our 18U Gold squad. Mia is a pure athlete. Spending most of her time at the SS position she also has the ability to convert to any position both in the infield and outfield. Mia led the premier team with a .419 batting average and an OPS of 1.051. What stands out the most is her love for the game and her pure aggressiveness on the softball field. Never gets cheated at the plate and her overall approach gives her a chance every-time she steps to plate. We are always confident that Mia will come up with the big hit. Defensively Mia has great range, arm strength that will help her transition to the speed of college game. Mia's academic achievements in high school has also helped her attain this opportunity at Queens College. Strong student who wants to major in Education. Queens College has a strong Education program and produces many successful educators. Congratulations to Mia and her family on this amazing accomplishment. We are so proud and happy for you and know you have a bright future ahead of you. We are excited to follow your career at Queens College. Go Knights!"
18U Gold will resume team activities in next month for fall training.
